Stop the Carbon Tax
January 21, 2015
CHATHAM – MPP Rick Nicholls is launching a petition to stop the Liberal’s upcoming carbon tax ahead of his return to the provincial legislature in February.
Last week, the Liberal government confirmed it would introduce a carbon tax in the Spring Budget, despite the Premier ruling it out last June.
“The Liberals want to sneak in a new tax while gas prices are low to help pay for their scandalous mismanagement and overspending,” Nicholls said.
“Over the last few weeks I have spent time talking to constituents about their concerns and what they want to see from government. Not one of them wants to see another tax hike.”
Nicholls believes that this is just the latest in a long line of similar moves from this government.
“History has shown time and time again that the Liberals will resort to new taxes when they run out of money to spend. They brought in a costly health premium tax, but health services are in jeopardy as we have recently seen with the potential closure of the Leamington OB clinic. They spent $2 billion on smart meters that didn’t result in conserving energy.”
“When I head back to Queen’s Park I will be bringing a clear message with me: Chatham-Kent-Essex says no to the carbon tax,” Nicholls concluded.
