MPP Nicholls’ Statement on Navistar Decision

March 3, 2017

Chatham – Chatham-Kent-Essex MPP Rick Nicholls is thrilled that 6 years after Navistar moved on from Chatham, former employees and their families can finally move on as well after their victory in the long battle for severance money owed to workers.

In 2013, when Navistar pension hearings with the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) were cancelled, Nicholls worked with the Minister of Finance to ensure the meetings would be rescheduled as soon as possible.

In 2014, Nicholls expressed his desire for Navistar to accept the ruling so families could move on with their lives. He also noted that many Navistar families have reached out to his office for support.

“Navistar employees and Unifor fought long and hard to win this pension battle. Navistar moved on from Chatham and we can finally move on as well,” Nicholls said.
