Transport Canada Orders Removal of Turbines Near Chatham-Kent Airport
June 18, 2013
Chatham – In a story that broke last Friday, Transport Canada has ordered the removal of eight wind turbines near the Chatham-Kent Municipal Airport because they exceed height restrictions for the area and could pose a risk to pilots.
MPP Rick Nicholls had sent a letter to Transport Canada in January highlighting safety concerns raised to him by citizens and pilots in the area.
“My number one concern is the safety of citizens in my riding and anyone else who would be using the Chatham-Kent Municipal Airport,” Nicholls said.
The story has appeared in Chatham Daily News, CTV Windsor, CBC Windsor, and numerous other media outlets.
