FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 23, 2017

EMPLOYERS AND EMPLOYEES HAVE OPPORTUNITY TO WEIGH IN ON MINIMUM WAGE LABOUR LEGISLATION

(CHATHAM-KENT-ESSEX) – It should come as no surprise that this government failed to do a thorough cost-benefit analysis of their proposed changes in Bill 148, Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017. Rick Nicholls (MPP for Chatham-Kent-Essex) wants his constituents to know that there is an upcoming hearing where they can make their voices heard, whether they are for or against the proposed changes.

“This legislation affects each and every one of us in Ontario. It does not matter whether you are an employee or an employer or whether you work in the agricultural, manufacturing, small or big business sector. As your MPP, I strongly encourage all businesses and employees to participate in these hearings.” Nicholls said.
If you would like to participate, the committee is holding hearings in Windsor-Essex the week of July 10, 2017. The deadline to apply and make a presentation to the committee is July 4th.
For dates, times, and locations, interested presenters must contact Eric Rennie, the Clerk of the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs at: [email protected] Tel. 416-325-3506 Fax: 416-325-3505. Presenters who are unable to appear in person can make a presentation via teleconference, or email their submissions to the clerk.
